This is our class for newcomers! A perfect place to start or restart your yoga practice. You can expect an introduction to the basics of a yoga class; how to connect to your breath, a breakdown of common poses, including their names in English and Sanskrit, safe alignment, and how to modify with props. Terms and cues commonly referenced in yoga classes will be explained so you can confidently grow your own practice at your own pace. This class is designed with fundamentals in mind, building your mind/body awareness, and making yoga accessible (and fun!) for every body.
This class is all about relaxing the body in seated and reclined postures (no standing series) with the support of props like blankets, blocks, and bolsters. You can expect to be guided through some light breathwork to calm the nervous system, and a gentle series of shapes that allow your body to relax naturally under the weight of gravity. Perfect after a long energetic day, or just to promote a calm body and mind and good night of sleep. Beginner-friendly and suitable for any ability and experience level – newbies welcome!
A combination class to get your body moving before settling into a relaxed state. Traditionally, the practice of yoga postures (asana) and breathwork (pranayama) is to prepare the body and mind for the deeper practice of meditation (dhyana). In this class you can expect a body-warming sequence of postures, a focus on alignment and steadiness of breath, followed by more stillness in shapes, exploring elements of yin yoga, restorative yoga, and meditation to calm the nervous system. This is an open-level class suitable for beginners (though if you are brand-new to yoga we recommend taking one prior Yoga Foundations class).
Vinyasa is a Sanskrit word that loosely translates to “breath to movement” or “to move with precision.” In this class you can expect a warmup of sun salutations (surya namaskar), a creative sequence of postures (asana) that build upon one another, and a nice cool down before final rest (shavasana). A fun class to explore alignment, the power of your breath (prana), get your heart pumping, and build your strength and flexibility to different playlists. Students of all levels are welcome, including beginners with some basic prior yoga experience (total newcomers are encouraged to take Yoga Foundations before diving into open-level).
Depending on the instructor, this morning class will either be vinyasa, hatha, or ashtanga style. You can expect an energizing series of postures to wake up your body and bring focus and stillness to your mind so you can tackle the day ahead. This class is open-level and suitable for students with basic prior experience (we recommend total newcomers take one Foundations class, first). Always listen to your body and feel welcome to take a variation most accessible to you, or skip any pose.
In this intermediate class, you can expect a strong connection to breath, a focus on building strength, maybe working toward a peak pose, and the chance to explore your edge in different postures with optional balances, binds, inversions, and backbends. Instructors may focus on a particular area of the body or chakra, or workshop various postures. This class is intended for students familiar with yoga and an understanding of basic alignment, as postures are cued and demoing is limited.
